Field Trips

The conference organizers have identified the following potential field trips for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 5th. When you register, be sure to select your favorite to help us narrow down the options.
  • Global Green Lighting: Chattanooga is replacing its outdated streetlights with LED and Induction streetlights, equipped with point-to-multi-point radio controls and a wireless control system that will cut energy and maintenance costs by more than half. In addition to bringing  the most advanced lighting system in the world to Chattanooga, Global Green lighting is bringing +250 manufacturing jobs.  Tour the  plant and learn about the project.
 

  • VW Plant: On May 24, 2011, Volkswagen announced the grand opening of the first LEED Platinum manufacturing plant in the world at their facility in Chattanooga. On Jan 23, 2013 Volkswagen's flipped the switch on a 33-acre solar park, the largest at any U.S. auto plant and the biggest array in Tennessee. Tour the plant and see the solar farm.

  • RockTenn Single Stream Recycle Plant: RockTenn is one of the world's largest recyclers, recovering, processing and selling approximately eight million tons annually.   • Green Infrastructure Projects: The City of Chattanooga is implementing green infrastructure retrofit projects alongside new volume reduction standards for development and redevelopment to be implemented in December 2014.  Visit some of the projects and learn more about Chattanooga’s efforts to reduce stormwater volume and improve water quality.
  • Bicycle Tour of Downtown Chattanooga and RiverWalk: Experience Chattanooga through our eco-friendly, economical public bike transit system. Bike Chattanooga offers quick, fun travel in and around the city.  Meet the Bike Chattanooga team to discuss the project and learn how we are expanding our multi-modal transit options with our new all-electric Car Chattanooga system.
